The Hanover Vampyr (known in Germany as the "HAWA Vampyr") was a glider. It was designed by Georg Hans Madelung and built by students of aerotechnical institute of the University of Hanover in 1921. It has been claimed to be the model for all modern sailplanes.[1][2]
